ITHACA, N.Y.— The women's lacrosse team #27 women’s lacrosse team (6-1, 2-0 Empire 8) remained in first place in the Empire 8, holding visiting Rochester Institute of Technology (3-4, 0-1 E8) scoreless for a 31:20 stretch en route to a 20-3 win Friday.
Ithaca scored the games’ first five goals and ran off 13 in a row after the Tigers had closed to within 7-2. Sophomore
Becky Bedard (East Longmeadow/East Longmeadow, Mass.) led Ithaca with a career-high six points (two goals, four assists). Freshman
Kassie Garfield (The Wheeler School/Cuttyhunk Island, Mass.) and
Lauren Fitzgerald (William H. Hall/West Hartford, Conn.) also posted career-best scoring totals;
Garfield collected five points, including a team-best four goals and
Fitzgerald picked up two goals.
Junior
Kim Medla (Brewster/Brewster) netted five points (two goals, three assists) to raise her season total to a team-best 34 points.
Medla, who has scored at least four points in all seven Ithaca games this spring, is seven points away from becoming the program’s 25th 100-point scorer.

Asti Kutzer (Mount Anthony Union/Pownal, Vt.) scored three goals apiece for the Bombers, who have scored 99 goals this year after netting 100 all of last season (in 13 games).
Senior
Lindsay Mayfield (Nichols/East Aurora) stopped two shots in the first half and junior
Emily Brooks (Ward Melville/Setauket) made one second-half stop.
Ithaca plays at Nazareth Saturday at 2 p.m. The Golden Flyers were picked first in the Empire 8 preseason poll; Ithaca was chosen third.
